16th - John Beer 1989 - DEATH OR GLORY
From the tee there are two bunkers on left of fairway at approximately
200 yards, rough on the right side and out of bounds to left. On approach
to the green, which is the largest on the course, there is a bunker on the
left some 80 yards from the green. Beyond the green on a clear day
Devon is visible.
This is Langland Bay’s signature hole. A Par 3 hole of just 125 yards from
the Ladies tee and 153 yards from the back tee, everyone of them a yard
of trouble, to a shelved green built on the side of a cliff. Even with still
conditions the green, which has more undulations than any other, takes
some finding and once played is never forgotten.
A case of DEATH OR GLORY.

18th - Derek Dean 1991 - A DROP O’ BEER
The drive from an elevated tee on the cliff top needs to be straight onto
a fairway which falls all the way down to the lowest point on the course.
There is trouble right and left with care to be taken in avoiding the
bunker to the right and short of the green which catches approach shots
that are less than perfect.
A testing finishing hole requiring a solid tee shot before deciding whether
to take on the water or play for the heart of the three tiered green. A
Par here is always acceptable but an attacking shot does sometimes bring
its rewards.
